CASABLANCA RECORDS LOGO

CLIENT: CASABLANCA RECORDS
ROLE: ART DIRECTION AND GRAPHIC DESIGN

The original Casablanca Records record label was established in 1973 by music executive Neil Bogart. To adapt the label’s modern EDM focus, my team and I  were tasked to reinvigorate the iconic Casablanca 70s era heritage logo for the modern age. We elected to maintain the classic logo script for a new generation of artists, contrasted by the modern sans serif “RECORDS” tag. The new bug label logo was specifically created for small scale usage such as on record, CD, and cassette spines. The heritage logo’s classic hot red was saturated further as a nod to the historic past of the record label.

To celebrate the historic rebranding of Casablanca Records my team and I collaborated to create a line of exclusive merch designs including custom turntable slipmats, tote bags, crewneck sweatshirts, and NYC subway themed T-shirts and water bottle designs. Casablanca’s bold new look immortalized it’s legacy in the modern music industry in the grand entrance of Universal Music Group’s New York headquarters next to the likes of Def Jam Records, Island, Records, Verve Records, Imperial Records, and Capitol Records.
