HOME: AN ILLUSTRATED INTERPRETATION
OF THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

ART DIRECTION: DUSTIN SUMMERS

This is my illustrated interpretation of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon set to the visual iconography of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  Inspired by the classic urban legend , I was motivated by the imagery of local artist W.W. Denslow who did the original illustrations for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. To illustrate the ephemeral nature of the source material I facilitated a collaged style to represent the colliding of the radically different genres of Pink Floyd and the allegorical writings of L. Frank Baum. The typography is a visual reflection of the rhythmic delivery of David Gilmour and Roger Water’s vocal performances on the iconic album.
